Happy Birthday to us if we do say so ourselves! In celebration of our 10th Birthday, we bring to you an exclusive interview with business owners, husband and wife team Emma Webber and Jeremy Smith. Taking a step back to business roots, reminiscing over the beauty of working in the industry and inside information on why we are proud to be who we are.
It has been an incredible journey so far and we look forward to what the future holds!
Q1: WHY DID YOU CREATE NATURAL SPA FACTORY?
Our mission was simple - to provide exceptional products that were as natural as possible using high quality ingredients and allowing spa professionals the flexibility to define their own journey. We are delighted to have extended this to allow customers buy products direct for themselves.
Q2: WHAT MAKES IT SO DISTINCT?
Not only are Natural Spa Factory’s creations Free from SLS, parabens, MI and microbeads, they are ethically sourced, and botanical, and are suitable for Every Body. Our skincare is developed to feel as good as it smells. We are breaking the mould of what spas and salons have come to expect from product houses and are defining our own path; we’re leaders not followers!
Q3: WHAT IS THE KEY TO ITS ENDURING SUCCESS?
Good old fashioned hard work certainly does go a long way! And, working with spas who are opting to take back control of their businesses by creating bespoke treatments and spa days that are 100% unique to them. The development of the brand through marketing to speak directly to customers and define our own path has of course helped too!
Q4: HOW HAS THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY CHANGED IN THE LAST 10 YEARS?
In all honesty, we don’t think the beauty industry has changed that much in the past 10 years. We are trying to forge a new path and be bold - step away from the norm. For example we have recently launched ‘I Am Woman’ - a treatment collection designed for women, the menopause and periods. We are shocked it hasn’t been done before but we aren’t afraid to talk about subjects that others may find tricky. Check out the blogs on this and key products to help you through these tricky times.
Q5: WHAT DOES THE FUTURE OF BEAUTY LOOK LIKE?
Natural Beauty - Embrace it! Stop caring. Our ethos, and the one that has run over in to the Natural Spa Factory world, is the concept of wellness. ‘Feel Good, Look Good’ is a phrase we’re all very familiar with, but don’t act upon enough. Of course great skincare can help - who doesn’t feel revitalised after a facial or exhilarating body scrub? But, mindfulness, balance, authenticity and general wellbeing must come first. We’re about multi-functional products, get yourself one greatface and body oil for all over protection and nourishment.
Q6: HOW DOES THE BRAND EMBRACE WELLNESS?
Essentially ‘wellness’ is what we do. Whether it’s encouraging spas and retail customers to take a step back, breathe, reflect, take time, we are always talking about ‘wellness.’ Many of our products are designed around how you want to feel rather than how you want to look. Our top pick from last year’s new products had to be the Pink Beets, Yuzu and Watermelon Body Scrub. It fills the bathroom with amazing scents and skin feels silky and smooth for hours after use. Who doesn’t feel good after a great rub down!
Q7: TELL US ABOUT YOUR ENVIRONMENTAL CREDENTIALS
It would be fundamentally wrong to promote wellness without considering the impact we have on the environment. It pains us that the beauty industry is one of the worst culprits when it comes to unnecessary over-packaging and single-use plastics. Our products are made from recyclable materials, we actively encourage second-life use and don’t do single use amenities for spas and hotels. We are proud of our eco-credentials and are committed to making a difference! We’re also actively ensuring any NPD from 2019 will be vegan.
