WINTER SKINCARE SURVIVAL TOP TIPS

Winter Skincare - how to navigate the nightmare!

Dry. Dull. Flaky. Grey. Pallid. Dehydrated. Tight. Itchy... Yes, these are all horror words in the skincare world! Unfortunately, they are all things that most of us encounter during the winter months. Winter skincare requires a switch up in your usual routine. We've put our heads together, and had a think on how to help skin survive. Here's our top tips for winter skincare survival.

You Are What You Eat

A balanced diet is essential for skin health. Processed sugar, alcohol and the wrong kind of fats will dehydrate you and lead to break outs, dry skin and a poor complexion. There's a handful of super foods that will help to feed dry winter skin...

Avocados: The blend of healthy fats, proteins, and vitamins make it a powerhouse for your body inside and out. The protein helps support collagen structure and the elastin in your skin. The fat also helps moisturise. Good news - because we're lovers of guacamole, avocado toast, and good-fat packed salads.

Sweet Potatoes: Abundant in vitamin A, they can help give your skin a healthy glow, and protect from damage. Vitamin A can help with skin renewal and decrease dry, flaky skin. Great for winter skin survival.

Green Tea: Not only is green tea loaded with skin-nourishing antioxidants, it has anti-inflammatory properties that can heal damaged skin and prevent blemishes. It may help increase blood flow to the skin since it’s rich in antioxidants.

Moisturise

This might seem a little bit obvious - but it's essential to keep skin hydrated with the right collection of creams, lotions and potions. A moisturiser that works for skin in spring and summer might need to be swapped out for something more nourishing. Look for a moisturiser with natural oils in for ultimate winter skincare. Try the 23 Carat Gold & Caviar Moisturiser, which is bursting with Grapeseed Oil. Or discover our Everyday Cream - the natural bees wax ingredient will leave an invisible protective layer on your skin, locking in moisture.

Get Slick

If you've tried a richer moisturiser, yet skin is still looking a little thirsty, look to introduce a selection of oils in to your daily routine. We love the 100 Percent Oil Collection, however if you're not sure where to start,  we recommend our Organic Rosehip Oil which is great for repairing the skin, calming any redness and is full of antioxidants, vitamins and fatty acids.

Exfoliate

Between the cold air outside and dry indoor heating, your skin cells easily become dehydrated. You'll want to buff these old skin cells away so the new cells underneath can develop and shine. Exfoliating also clears a pathway so your moisturiser can penetrate deeper into the skin and be more effective. We recommend our Bamboo Intense Exfoliation, a vitamin and mineral enriched micro-dermabrasion facial scrub, perfect for gently removing dead skin cells.

Face Masks

Not just a fun treat, face masks are a great way to give your skin a real moisture boost. Our melt-on Organic Cocoa Skin Drench Mask will leave skin feeling replenished and glowing. Brimming with vitamins A, D & E to leave your skin feeling firm and packed with antioxidants to fight free radicals, protecting the skin.
